What is the function of the CPU in a computer?

Most of the processing in the computer is controlled by this unit. The CPU of a computer handles all the instructions from the hardware and software. Just as all the work done by our body is done by our brain, in the same way, the CPU is also called the brain or heart of the computer. The functions of all parts of the computer are controlled by the CPU itself. The CPU of a computer handles all the instructions that it receives from the computer’s hardware such as keyboard, mouse, printer or any software program.

After this, the CPU calculates according to its program and then shows its output like any information on the monitor. A CPU can also have more than one Processing Core. If a CPU can process only one set of instructions at a time, then it is called Single-Core Processor.

CPUs that come with two processing cores are called dual-core CPUs and CPUs with four cores are called quad-core CPUs. There are also CPUs with more cores than this, which are used for better performance.

The faster the CPU or processor of a computer or device, the more easily and faster a program can run on the computer. The processor, Microprocessor or Central Processor is also CPU.

The world’s first CPU was ‘Intel 4004’, it was introduced by Intel in 1971. Most of the microprocessors used in computers today are made by Intel and AMD.

Where is the CPU installed on the computer?

    CPU kya hai

The CPU is installed on the motherboard inside the computer. The CPU of today’s computer or PC is square-shaped and small, it consists of many small pins or connectors made of metal, which are connected by fitting into the CPU socket on the motherboard. Parts of CPU (CPU Components)

There have been many changes in the CPU over time, but these are some of the basic components of all types of CPUs.

    ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit)
    CU / Control Unit
    Registers

    ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit)

There are two types of operations inside it.

    • Arithmetic
    • Logical

There are Arithmetic Operations like Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division etc. inside the Arithmetic part. All Logical Operations like Comparison, Matching, Selections etc. take place inside the Logic Unit.

    CU or Control Unit

As per its name, it controls all the operations, it extracts the instructions from memory and decodes and executes them.

    Registers

In this, instructions, data, results are stored for some time, which are used by the control unit when needed. Hopefully, through this post, you must have got information about CPU Full Form and CPU. You can read other information related to computer and technology on this site.
